GTALK SAFER CITIES IN ASIA REPORT SERIES

Through a series of online survey, we examinned the nature of local travel and commute during the pandemic We identify the type and extent of perceptions of safety by gender among college students in several city-contexts, namely: Bandung (Indonesia), Bangkok (Thailand), Cagayan de Oro (Philippines), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam) and Fukuoka (Japan). By understanding the nature of travel and the ecology of commuting in a COVID and post-COVID world, we gather evidence to support more gender- responsive transport design, and planning as we prepare for ‘COVID-normal’ futures.
